Drawing in Europe
When I was a student at the Tbilisi Academy of Art, we were told about western art education: that in Europe, nobody knows how to draw. Everyone's doing conceptual art and photography. And only in our academy are classical, traditional forms of art training like drawing preserved. It's not true.
Not long ago I went to the end-of-year exhibition of the works of the students at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. The drawings floored me with their quality, freedom, and knowledge. And the most important thing is that the students naturally transform their drawing skills into sculpture, painting, and design.
